Dura-Line's Conduit Installed Locally in Front of Knoxville Office Building
FARRAGUT/KNOXVILLE, TENN. - May 24, 2019 - Living without a fiber connection is rapidly leading to a sub-standard life. Consumers today demand instant data for their personal and professional lives. While the current infrastructure hobbles along meeting most of people’s upload and download needs; it definitely will not suffice for a 5G world that promises autonomous cars.
If you work the Farragut area of Knoxville, Tenn., you may have noticed a little construction along Parkside Drive. Crews are installing a Dura-Line conduit using directional drilling, which is a minimally invasive construction technique that essentially threads the conduit underground. As it happens, one of Farragut’s locally-based businesses manufactures the conduit...Dura-Line.
One of Dura-Line's offices is located on Parkside Drive and employs more than 100 people. Dura-Line has 20 manufacturing plants across the globe.
It’s not every day the office staff gets to observe a field installation from the comfort of their desk.

“I’ve had the great honor to see installations all over the world. It’s not every day the office staff gets to observe a field installation from the comfort of their desk,” said Tim Grimsley, Dura-Line Vice President of Global Customer Engagement. “What a great opportunity to see our product serving our hometown.”
Dura-Line is a TL-9000 and ISO-9001 rated manufacturer of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduits serving the telecommunications, enterprise, and electrical markets. Dura-Line’s products are designed to provide protection and fast, safe installation of fiber optic, coaxial, and electrical cables. As a leading international manufacturer and distributor, infrastructure products and systems include conduit available with SILICORE® and SuperSILICORE®, FuturePath, preinstalled cable-in-conduit, Figure-8 Self-Support Aerial, locatable, MicroDucts, and accessories.
Later construction crews will access the handholes to install a fiber optic cable, which will provide better, faster, low-latency, high-speed broadband internet. With this fiber infrastructure upgrade, the Farragut area of Knoxville is even more of an attractive location. Residents want to live a connected life in a “smart” city, where they are always informed and able to communicate, whether they are at work, home, or play. Providing seamless access to Wi-Fi requires a fiber optic infrastructure to support the exponential growth in data. Only a cohesive fiber network – in a Dura-Line conduit – can carry the amount of data needed for a prosperous future filled with innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development.
